In the year  2003 we have identified and formulated the following projects:

 

BRAZIL

"CASAS MUDANDO VIDAS": Un paso más en el desarrollo sustentable de comunidades de Brasil

SUMMARY

This three year duration project will contribute to increase the living conditions of 4.271 brazilian low income families of Ceará, Goiás and Tocantins through sustainable improvement of their housing conditions.

 

OBJETIVE

Improve housing conditions of low income families of Ceara, Goias and Tocantins with effective and sustainable use of a revolving fund, pro-land fund and income generation projects.

RESULTS

A. Sustainable revolving fund institutionalized and healthy.

B. Land aquisition through strengthening of existing and newly created strategies.

C. Low cost and quality houses constructed.

D. Income generation program implemented.

E. Project effectively managed.

PERU

"PATA PATA CHOTANO": Mejorando la calidad de vida de la población campesina de la microcuenca del río Chotano, Departamento de Cajamarca, Perú

SUMMARY

This project will contribute to improve the living conditions of 2000 farmer families of the Chotano micro-basin, Cochabamba district, Cajamarca. The project intends to rehabilitate and restore irrigation channels by creating different infrastructures of soil conservation (bay, terraces and ditch infiltration systems, etc.). This will generate environmental benefits, reducing natural risks and disasters, modernizing farm production and transfer of  technologies and capacity building of farming families, social organizations and local government.

OBJECTIVE

Improved living conditions of rural populations of Cochabamba through extension of the farming border thus increasing their food security and training their local authorities and social organizations.

 

 

RESULTS

A. Irrigation channels network and ditches of the Rio Chotano basin rehabilitated and extended

B. soild conservation work implemented

C. Transfer of technologies and capacity building of the farming organizations consolidated

D. Capacity building of the district Administration strengthened

E. The project is efficiently managed, coordinated, monitored and evaluated

GUATEMALA

“SALUD Y PAZ” Mejorando las condiciones de Salud en Guatemala

The formulation of this project was commissioned by KATE for Brot fur die Welt, both from Germany

ASECSA, Asociación de Servicios Comunitarios de Salud.

 

SUMMARY

This project will contribute to improve health conditions of 17 localities in Guatemala by benefiting 384.670 poor farmers through a network of alternative and sustainable community health programs.

 

OBJECTIVE

National network of community programs offer alternative and sustainable health care with an intercultural approach.

RESULTS

A. Technical, physical, administrative and organizational capacity to deliver community health care strengthened.

B. Basic health care is accesible to the communities.

C. The Community Health Programs use the Mayan medical model.

D. The nutrition conditions of the families has improved.

E. Project efficiently managed.

SUMMARY

This project aims at improving health conditions and community capacities in the autonomous region of North Atlantic Nicaragua. It will benefit 20.223 people through implementation of a community health care.

 

OBJECTIVE

Community capacity developed in order to deliver health care and  management. It will achieve the participation of municipal and regional actors of the said region.

 

RESULTS

A. Health care has improved in the communities with community participation

B. Community organizations have management capacity before municipal and regional authorities

C. Miskita traditional medicine has been fostered in the Regional Health Model

D. Capacities of the comunity organization have improved in order to raise awareness and foster health rights of women and children

E. The project is efficiently managed, coordinated, monitored and evaluated

PHILIPPINES

"COMMUNITY HOUSING INITIATIVE" Decent Human Settlements for the poor in the Philippines

Project for the B7-6000 Budgetline of the European Comission

SUMMARY

This project aims to contribute to reducing poverty housing in the Philippines through policy reforms, alternative strategies and sustainable low-cost housing finance. It intends to demonstrate the viability of a multi-sectoral approach in constructing low-cost housing with basic infrastructure, where the homeowners are economically active and empowered.

 

OBJECTIVE

Communities are empowered and housing conditions are improved accessing sustainable funds for land and housing and establishing multi-sectoral cooperation for community development initiatives

RESULTS

A: Sufficient revolving funds for housing are mobilized and established.

B: Low-cost housing constructed using alternative technology.

C: Sufficient buildable lands identified and accessed. 

D: Pro-poor housing policies are advocated at the local and national levels.

E: Communities are empowered and sustainable.

F: Projects are efficiently managed.

"HOUSES FOR ALL" Appropriate Low Cost Houses Constructed and Low Income Communities Assisted in Indonesia

SUMMARY

This three-year project aims to construct 92 low cost apartment units and construct and renovate 1,091 low cost units and assist 2,770 low-income families accessing sustainable revolving fund for income generation activities and improving effective awareness for advocacy in Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya in Indonesia.

 

OBJECTIVE

Appropriate low cost houses are constructed and low income communities are assisted accessing sustainable revolving fund for housing and improving effective awareness for advocacy in Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya

RESULTS

A: Sustainable revolving fund for housing of low income families is established and maintained

B: Simple, affordable, durable houses for low income communities are constructed using appropriate technology

C: Adequate land to build houses for the low income families is obtained

D: Effective awareness of civil society in Indonesia on poverty housing is raised and target communities are empowered

E: Housing policies for low income families are advocated among the stakeholders
