SUMMARY
This
project aims at contributing to the improvement of the living and
environmental conditions of the underprivileged population in the
Tandjilé and the Occidental Logone regions by establishing activities
related to food security through the strengthening of production
capacity and population management. The project also aims at fighting
Aids ravages through awareness of the population and instilling into the
culture of peace in the designated region. Furthermore, the project
aims at contributing to an improvement of the natural resources
protection by setting up actions in order to make the population
concerned responsible.

OBJETIVE
Food
security, health, peace of the underprivileged populations are improved
and the environment preserved in the Tandjilé and Occidental Logone
regions.
RESULTS
R1 - The
food security of the target population has been improved.
R2 - The
target population has adopted a more responsible behaviour with regard
to Aids risks.
R3 - The
culture of peace has been reinforced within the target population.
R4 - The
basic natural resources of the zone of action are managed better.
R5 - An
effective and operational system of coordination, management and
follow-up has been set up |

"STEP BY STEP": Improving the living conditions and empowering to
self-dependency in 15 rural communities in Northern Tanzania.

SUMMARY
The
project aims at contributing to the poverty alleviation and to enhance
the rural communities’ quality of life and their own development
capacities in Northern Tanzania. The specific objective consists of
improving living conditions and
empowerment to self-dependency in 15 communities in Arusha, Kilimanjaro
and Manyara.
The main activities are awareness raising of communities on basic rights
and obligations. Facilitation of meetings and trainings on leadership
skills, good governance and advocacy, agricultural practices,
environmental control, (water management), gender equity, literacy
teaching and entrepreneurial skills. Identification and provision of
Income Generating Activities, establishment of tree nurseries, support
to farmers, conducting exchange visits and field days. |
OBJECTIVE
Improving the living conditions and empowering to self dependency the 15
rural communities in Arusha, Kilimanjaro and Manyara regions

R1 -
Community leaders and groups are trained and able to implement good
governance and advocacy
R2 -
Community groups are trained and able to train others in appropriate
agricultural practices and sound environmental control

Community health workers are trained and able to provide services in
Primary Health Care, Home Based Care and HIV control to communities

"ACCESS TO LIFE" : Social support and treatment of Tuberculosis and
HIV affected people in Sierra Leone.

SUMMARY
The
action aims at contributing to poverty alleviation and to enhance
the quality of life for vulnerable people in Sierra Leone by
facilitating the access to social quality support and treatment of
persons and communities affected by Tuberculosis and HIV in 13
health districts. Target groups are policy makers, persons at work
places, nurses and midwives, media practitioners, DOTS volunteers,
Tuberculosis and HIV patients, orphans and vulnerable children and
women caregivers. The main activities of the project are collecting
information on rights of PLWHIV, sensitising policy makers,
lobbying, providing legal assistance, training, treatment education,
provision of counselling, promoting income generating activities and
constructing and maintaining a community health centre.

SUMMARY
This
three year action will aware and motivate tourists, tour operators,
policy makers and other multipliers on Fair Trade in Tourism and
will provide tools to change their individual and institutional
policy and practices. NGOs in Europe and Developing countries will
agree on criteria and strategies as a common base for further action
towards a contribution for poverty reduction in Developing
Countries.
OBJECTIVE
To
contribute to the reduction of poverty in developing countries by
strengthening global dialogue. Creating solutions to the problems of
tourism development through the empowerment of those working for
Fair Trade in Tourism in the South and in Europe. |
RESULTS
A-
Agreement on criteria and strategies on Fair Trade in Tourism has
been achieved by a significant number of NGOs and civil society
groups in European and Developing Countries.
B-
Travellers are informed about Fair Trade in Tourism and have the
relevant criteria for their decision-making.
C-
Tour Operators, policy makers and other multipliers are aware of
criteria, experiences and practices of Fair Trade in Tourism.
D- Development awareness project successfully managed

SUMMARY
Among the oasis
ecosystem, the Aromatic and Medicinal Plants are ancient cultures
produced in limited quantities for family consumption. These last
years, this production knew a decline with the profit of a little
diversified and fragile system of production. The South Tunisian
oases constitute today a considerable potential of production for
these plants which could contribute to food safety and to an optimal
valorisation of the Oasis resources. In addition, in Djérid, the
traditional oases are characterized by a predominance of palm trees
plantations producing Common Varieties Dates (DVC). However, their
marketing is random, their profitability is decreasing because of
changes in the local populations’ mode of consumption.

To improve the the
farmers' situation and to instigate the Oasis production sector,
while preserving the oases of the risk of abandonment, this project
proposes to contribute to the oasis ecosystem safeguard by improving
the socio-economic conditions of the vulnerable farming populations
in the Djérid and Chenini oases in Tunisia.
OBJECTIVE
To improve the farmers' incomes (men and
women) by reinforcing the production and trade system of the Oasis
in Djerid and Gabčs
RESULTS
A- The production and the Oasis
vegetable transformation are improved in quantity and quality
B - The farmers are trained and the population aware of the Oasis
products’ benefits.
C - A marketing strategy and distribution chains of the Oasis
products are operational
D - The project is duly managed, coordinated and evaluated

SUMMARY
The
project aims to bring answers to the problems linked with major poverty
such as food insecurity; precarious health of the populations mainly due
to the HIV-AIDS devastations, degraded environment and constantly
threatened peace, in a context where the state doesn’t have sufficient
means to ensure the basic needs of the populations.
The mains results generated by the project affect various sectors of
action such as the agricultural output of the target populations, their
behaviour vis-ŕ-vis the VIH/SIDA risks, the culture of peace, the
management of the basic natural resources. These results will be reached through
beneficiaries training and |
awareness, the reinforcement of their technical, material and financial
capabilities and the exchanges with all the partners operating in the
zone of action. The expected impact is the adoption by
the farmers of the zone of action of agricultural techniques which
respect the environment and improve their output, the improvement of the socio-sanitary conditions of
the target populations, a more peaceful cohabitation of the communities
of the zone, a more rational and concerted management of the natural
resources and a better implication of the women and youth in the
decision-making and the process of development.
The project is addressed in priority to the most underprivileged
people: women, young, people living with the HIV/AIDS, agricultural
workers and other vulnerable groups. |

SUMMARY
The project
aims at alleviating poverty, whose major causes are the weakness of the
principal sectors of production (agriculture and breeding), the conflict
between stockbreeders and farmers, the bad management of natural
resources, the aggravation of endemic diseases and the low educational
level of women.
The
carried out actions will enable to reinforce the capacities of
the base organizations in agriculture and breeding ; to help the Mandoul
and the Moyen Chari population to manage their natural resources and the
conflicts between stockbreeders and farmers in a concerted way ;
|
to
encourage them to change theirbehavior to limit the social and sanitary
impact of HIV-AIDS and palludism ; to support women to access to
the formation thanks to the functional elimination of illiteracy.Thanks to
the development of the technical, organizational and innovational
capabilities of the target populations as well as their role of “leader”
and “effect multipliers” within their villages, the impact of the
project will be a sustainable, ecological and healthy improvement of the
agricultural production, food safety and households’ income as well as
cohabitation between the communities. The improvement of the sanitary
situation and the women access to the formation
will make it possible to imply a more productive part in the processes
of development. |
